Open since June 2009, Finback Alehouse is a local Gastro pub, featuring an upscale casual dining atmosphere with a sports-friendly flair. Located in the heart of historic downtown Bar Harbor, Maine, its convenient location and creative dishes attract both the locals and out-of-town visitors with warm hospitality.
Finback Alehouse was originally called Bubba’s, established in 1978. Their family-operated business retired in 2002 when Bubba sold it to a woman who opened Donahue’s. After vacating, it was then purchased in 2009 by Matty Haskell, founder and proprietor of Pub Ciao; the parent company of Finback Alehouse.
Our focus is on locally grown all-natural ingredients, using high quality local farmers and fishermen as much as possible. We put high precedence on using locally-grown vegetables and hand-harvested Maine seafood that uses sustainable harvesting practices. Every day we get a fresh batch of warm bread from one of Bar Harbor’s very own local bakeries to keep everything we serve our customers of the highest quality and freshest taste. Whenever possible, we use organic or hand-harvested products.
Finback specializes in fresh seafood, creative craft beers and brew pub style entrees with a family-friendly price structure and wide variety of menu choices. We carry over 25 different types of beer featuring 16 drafts, 14 local drafts, including our favorite local brewery Black Bear Micro Brewery.
All of our meals are prepared from scratch and our chefs are extremely hands on, taking part in both the menu design, daily specials and offering new ideas to improve our customers’ experience each and every time they visit the Finback Alehouse.
Our approach is through cooperative effort with our staff. Therefore, we make each and every Finback employee an integral part of our success by embracing their input and feedback.
