Ambiance: The Tugboat Inn has one of the best locations in downtown Boothbay Harbor. Overlooking the harbor with free, ample parking right on the wharf, this is one of the best buys in town. Dining as you watch sailboats, excursion boats, kayaks and lobster boats ply the waters at your feet is half the enjoyment here. Food: The food is fine at the Tugboat Inn. They specialize in seafood, but have other very nicely prepared dishes on the menu as well. I was disillusioned to find that much of the food in mid-coast Maine was fried and a salad seemed a foreign creature in many Maine restaurants, but NOT at the Tugboat. They have a delicous, generous side salad full of a variety of veggies and I recommend their house dressing, a white zinfandel vinegarette. They also have many delicious choices that don't include fish! Service: This is where the Tugboat could make some improvements. In the midst of summer, when they are VERY busy, we often felt that waitresses could care less about you. They knew that they were going to be busy and making money whether YOU were there or not. More than one server was less than friendly at this restaurant. We're sure that once they read this review, they will improve their service and you'll thoroughly enjoy your visit to the Tugboat Inn!
