We went for lunch during the week. The place was fairly busy on a beautiful Summer day. The service and food were both good. Some portions were small for the price, but the fried parsnips and veggie chili were very tasty. We'll take guests from out of town here again in the future.

Holy Cow that was good! Maine shrimp with peanut sauce over rice cakes are just awesome!!!!! Service has hit a welcome new level!! Got a nice visit from the owner and the chef, nice touch.

I am local to Bath - and experience the same type of service from Kennebec each time. It begins with the hostess. She is slow, and really doesn't care that there are 20+ people in line. I think it makes her slower. They want the business from Hampton Inn, but CAN NOT handle it, and really don't care! The view is all they have! This hostess actually grabbed my arm when I pointed to the table I wanted! She snapped " Not yet!" like I was a 5 year old child! They need faster hostesses, and more help in the bar area. People get tired of waiting, and clog in the bar...

I really want this place to do well because it's local. That said I think the service is lousy and the food mediocre. (And the attitude there is simply "we don't care.") The view of the river is great but I can get that without the 60 dollar tab.

Food Poisoning

My wife and I had dinner their a week ago and both got sick as dogs. I've now heard to watch out for their seafood. Service was pretty poor as well, wasn't a busy night either.

The view is good but,

The view of the river from the deck and the windows is fantastic. Unfortunately thats where the best of this experience ends. For an appetiser I ordered the fried Calamari, which came out over cooked and tough. The steak was tough, charred on the outside and less than cooked on the inside. When sent back you would have thought I committed a crime. The staff was less than friendly. For this area, the price for the amount of food you receive is rather high. Overall this was not a good night out.

Nice View, but not worth it.

First of all, they might want to hire a hostess that can drop her attitude at the door. When asked if we could have a table by the window we might have asked if her aunt just died, we hated to put her out of her way. Next, our server was pretty non existent the entire evening, God forbid she check on us to see if we needed anything, like our food cooked. That brings me to the food, an obvious Sysco Truck menu, everything from the apps to desert either was poorly cooked or cold when it arrived. We couldn't believe that a place with such a nice location would so poorly run. Don't waste your time, you'll have a better experience at MacDonalds.

Worst Restaurant in Maine, hands down disgusting!

Four of us were there for lunch on July 13, 2009, beautiful day to be on the deck on the Kennebec Tavern. A lady in our party had the Organic Green Salad, looked lovely until she nearly had a heart attack when someone was moving on her plate. Yes, it was an inch long slug pulsating against the whiteness of your salad plate. It gets better! When we finally our waitresses attention about 10 minutes later we notified her that there was a slug on her plate, her responded floored us all. "It's because YOU ordered an organic salad." She didn't order the damn slug salad though. Only after taking the order of another table did she come to remove the slug infested salad from our table. The half hearted apology was less than effective in making any of us happier. The service was incredibly slow, our server had the personality of a stick, and the rest of our food was mediocre at best. If you're trying to impress anyone be sure to stay away from the slug infested Kennebec Tavern where slugs are apparently acceptable on the salads. Next time I want to impress a lady I'll be sure to choose a different restaurant in Bath, Maine.
